FUNCTIONAL FITNESS PROGRAM

At typical gyms, the likelihood of finding exercises that will cure these common dilemmas is very slight.  There are hundreds of gym and fitness centers with a great deal of popular exercise methods and programs, but none of them will address the issues that have been mentioned here.

Most of the typical workouts will actually cause more harm to the already compromised tissues, and since the seriousness of the injury is only revealed over a long period time, one can often exercise in ways that create the illusion of being beneficial, when in fact they are harmful.

The functional fitness training that is proposed here, will address each of the tissue issues to better enable the participant to move thru their daily life with improved performance of regular activities.

The end results: more fluid precise movements, least possible wear and tear of body parts, and virtually pain free task performance.  Better functions will have applications whether someone is pulling weeds, loading the dishwasher, washing the car or carrying groceries home from the store.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Creative Dance/ Movement

This class uses diverse cultures of dance as a tool for fitness and recreation. Students will explore elements of various traditional techniques such as Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Popular dance techniques such as Hip Hop and Line Dancing. Multicultural dance styles such African, Caribbean, Latin and Middle Eastern styles, will be used as well.

Coreo Ball

An exercise ball is used by students to sit, bounce,  and rebound on,  to provide an efficient way to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid. Other strengthening techniques using the exercise ball will be taught as well, in order to develop the core body muscles.

Myo-Flex

The approach we will use in this class is a combination of  Myofascial Unwinding (manual tissue contact)  and Creative Movement. Myofascial Unwinding is a gentle way to unwind  tissue tension; a way to free the binding and shortening in the body's connective tissues and to re-educate the body in efficient and energy-sustaining  patterns.

Adapted Suzuki Technique

This technique adapted from a Japanese training method, is a way of educating participants in Somatic Education; a sensory-motor, brain-muscle training, to improve the body's awareness and voluntary control of ones muscular system.
